Living Whist

The Rectory Grounds at Ditcheat presented animated appearance on Wednesday, when the May Fair, together with games of whist and various side-shows, were organised with a view to wiping off the remaining debt on the Church bells.  Wednesday’s opening ceremony was performed Lady Theodore Guest, who was welcomed in a neat little reminiscent speech by Mrs. Tripp. Her ladyship, having declared the bazaar open, Mr. T. Vincent, captain of the ringers, moved vote of thanks to her, which was carried with applause. In the living whist, with a full pack of 52 cards, games were played on the lawn by Mr. Stephen Golledge, Mr. George Dyke, Mrs. T. Vincent and Mrs. George Look, and excited considerable interest.
